Jenny Nelson, Project Coordinator & Health Educator

After many years in the market research industry, Jenny had a strong desire to switch careers and help people live healthier lives. She resigned from her job and went back to school, and graduated with an Associate degree of Applied Science in the Dietetic Technician Program at Owens Community College. From there Jenny spent 2 years at Mercy St. Vincent’s as a Registered Dietetic Technician working closely with Registered Dietitians, educating patients on various diets, and leading group nutritional classes.

When the opportunity to pilot a program to help teenagers struggling with their weight arose at Mercy Weight Management Center, Jenny immediately volunteered to be part of that team. After the successful completion of that pilot program and with the approval to move the program forward, Jenny graciously accepted the position of project coordinator and health educator.

You will find Jenny working hard organizing all aspects of the program and working closely with each teenager and their family to ensure success. In the health educator role, Jenny assesses the current nutritional habits of the teens and over the course of the 6 month program educates the teen and their families on various nutrition topics such as healthier foods to eat, reading food labels, and dining out.

Jenny is passionate about helping teenagers make healthy living a part of their normal daily routine so they can live the healthiest and best life possible. Everyone deserves that!
