FAQs

FAQS

Is this like other weight loss programs?

Mercy Weight Management Center is different from other Toledo-area programs. We offer a high level of support, structure and education. Patients attend weekly classes and receive one-on-one coaching, focusing on lifestyle and behavior change for lifelong weight management. Mercy Weight Management Center has partnered with Health Management Resources® (HMR), the nation's leading provider of medically supervised weight management programs. HMR has dedicated over 27 years to weight loss research and has helped more than a million people lose weight and develop healthier lifestyle skills.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. For those on our medically supervised diet program, we do bill insurance for any medical portion of the program, such as doctor visits.

How much does it cost?

The program fees vary for our nonsurgical weight loss program depending on how much weight you want to lose, how quickly you want to lose it and any medical risk factors you may have. The programs begin at $25 per week, plus the cost of your nutritional products and medical supervision if needed.

Do I need to eat special food?

Mercy Weight Management Center utilizes portion-controlled, calorie-controlled meal replacements to maximize your weight loss while you are learning new skills and eating behaviors. We offer several different weight loss plans and a delicious array of diet foods to choose from.

Are the food products available to anyone?

Yes, we do sell our meal replacement products to the general public. We have shakes, soup, hot cereal, entrees and delicious snack bars to choose from. To place an order, you can use our convenient e-store or call us at 419-251-8760. You can pick up your order at Mercy Weight Management Center. (Please give us 24 hours to prepare your order.) Don't want to drive? We can also ship your order right to your house with our shipping program.

Our delicious diet foods are also available for purchase in our Mercy Pharmacies at Mercy St. Anne Hospital, Mercy St. Charles Hospital, and the Defiance Clinic. They are also available in the Cashiers Office at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Does exercise play a role in this program?

Our program focuses on physical activity and movement as a key component of weight loss and weight maintenance. We are excited to offer our nonsurgical weight loss patients access to Mercy Weight Management Center's brand-new fitness center, so they can work toward their exercise and weight loss goals in a safe, comfortable facility reserved exclusively for our patients.

Do I need a referral from my physician?
