You are currently not a candidate for bariatric surgery. Weight loss surgery is appropriate only for people who have unsuccessfully tried numerous diet and exercise programs in the past. You are, however, a candidate for Mercy Weight Management Center’s highly effective nonsurgical weight loss program.

You are not a candidate for bariatric surgery. Pregnant women, or women who are trying to become pregnant, are not eligible for bariatric surgery and should not start any kind of weight loss program. Doing so can rob a growing fetus of the nutrients it needs to develop properly.

You are a possible candidate for bariatric surgery. We won’t perform weight loss surgery on smokers because of the serious complications that can arise during and after the procedure. However, we can help you quit with a proven smoking cessation treatment, including the support of Mercy’s many smoking cessation classes.

People suffering from alcohol or drug dependence are not eligible for weight loss surgery because of the serious complications that can arise during and after the procedure. If you are able to overcome your addiction, you may be eligible for bariatric surgery in the future. For now, however, we encourage you to get help for your dependency.
